This heavy helmet is Indian, 17 C. from the Deccan region (South central India). Whole steel dome chiseled with interlocking lotus petals, top spike, nasal guard and plume holders. Chain mail and neck guard with riveted steel rings. 7 1/2 inches diameter. Very good condition. Old small repaired area on the dome. A rare find. This rare helmet comes from the Charles Buttin collection of antique arms and armor.
