Up for sale is this very early and rare form of Indian Dagger, from a class of daggers known as Chillanum . Daggers in this class may take various shapes. This one is probably late 17 to early 18 C., with heavy re-curving blade 10 ½ inches long with a central rib and shallow fullers. A massive ivory handle with a steel collar, probably cut from an hippopotamus tusk. Total length l6 1/2 inches. Very good condition to age. Well patinated blade and fine deep color shining age patina on the handle. The steel collar is a later addition. Impressive item.
