Intereting Klewang from Sumatra - 0655

This is one variant out of many similar machete like short sword commonly known in the Indonesian archipelago as ‘Klewang’. The item shown here is probably 19th Century and coming from Sumatra. It has a single edge heavy pamor blade and forked horn grip. The common type of this Klewang is not very rare and will usually come in a wood scabbard delicately engraved or painted. The interesting part of this one is the scabbard fitted with chased brass mounts, twisted brass wire binding and a very big and nicely decorated Ivory mouth.
