Fine Old Moroccan Koumaya / Jambiya Dagger - 9722

The Moroccan version of the Arab Jambiya dagger is locally called Koumaya and characterized by a slender blade, usually dual edged at its lower half and single edge at the top. There is a big variety in the decoration styles and quality of the handles and scabbards. This one is a fine example, circa 1920, of a very good quality. 9 1/2 inches blade of good quality. Massive horn grip with chiseled silver mounts and heavy silver scabbard finely chiseled at the top. Total length 16 inches. Very good condition. Minor pitted spots on the blade. A very elegant piece. |
