Fine Moroccan Koumaya / Jambiya Dagger with Rhino Horn Hilt - 7774

The Moroccan version of the Arab Jambiya dagger is locally called Koumaya and characterized by a slender blade, usually dual edged at its lower half and single edge at the top. There is a big variety in the decoration styles and quality of the handles and scabbards. This one is a fine example, early 20 C, of a very good quality, with a 9 inches blade and finely chiseled heavy silver scabbard. The grip is carved from a single piece of rhino horn with chiseled silver mounts. Total length 16 inches. Very good condition. Age patina on the blade with minor re shaping.
