Very Good Old Moroccan Koumaya / Jambiya Dagger - 7772

The Moroccan version of the Arab Jambiya dagger is locally called Koumaya and characterized by a slender blade, usually dual edged at its lower half and single edge at the top. There is a big variety in the decoration styles and quality of the handles and scabbards. This one is a very good classical example, circa 1900, of a very good quality, with a 9 inches blade, finely chiseled brass scabbard with engraved silver panels on its front side. The hilt of carved wood with chased and engraved brass / silver mounts. Total length 16 inches. Very good plus condition. Good age patina on the wood grip. |
