This is an Arab Saif coming from Arabia or a neighbor country. It employs a very fine Wootz blade of high contrast with a chiseled maker mark and traces of gold inlay. The blade is 32 inches long, heavy and nicely fullered, most probably of Persian origin, Late 18 to early 19 C. Some time in the late 19 or early 20 C. it was mounted with an Arab style handle and scabbard of finely chased white metal or very low silver alloy. Total length 38 inches. Very good condition. Minor edge nicks on the blade and small dents on the scabbard. Very impressive sword.
