From our private collection we offer for sale this fine yatghan sword, Balkan origin, late 18 to early 19 C. The blade is 24 inches long. Forged from pattern welded steel (Damascus) in the pattern known as Tirkish ribbon: 5 layers of twisted steel rods forge welded between high carbon steel edge and spine. The blade is richly decorated with silver inlay (true inlay) . Horn grips with big pommel ears and silvered copper bolsters and grip strap. Scabbard with heavy steel mounts with traces of silver koftgari work. Total length 33 inches. Very good condition. The velvet cover on thescabbard is recent. A fine heavy high quality sword.
