Very Good MANDAU, Sword of the Dyak Head Hunters, Borneo - 9648

This MANDAU (sometimes also called “Parang Ihlang”) is a late 19 to early 20 C vintage with a 21 inches blade with curved cross section. The blade is pierced and filed and inlaid with brass and copper round inserts along the entire length. The handle is “L” shaped, carved from bone and bound with twisted brass wires, with many tufts of black hair on the pommel tips. Wood scabbard painted yellow and set with many tufts of black hair. . Total length 28 inch. Very good condition. An original authentic piece for real use. |
