This double axe is Persian, from the late Qajar period, second half of the 19 C. The double blade is forged from high quality steel (with clear ring tone when knocked), 8 1/2 inches long, 4 1/2 inches tall each side, finely etched on its entire surface with birds on a dense floral background. The central tubular steel haft is 23 1/2 inches long ending with a 5 inches spike. Total length 30 inches. Very good condition.
