Fine Ottoman Balkan Yataghan sword with very big walrus grips and pommel ears dated to 1289 (1872 in the Gregorian calendar). Massive 23 inches blade with silver koftgari work – Inscription in Arabic letters and the date. Massive walrus grips, original complete and in perfect shape (not cracked as commonly happen with such swords). Chased and gilded bolsters and grip strap set with small pearls and turquoise stones. Next to perfect condition. Grips very slightly loose due to age shrink of the ivory. A very impressive sword.
