Good Long and Heavy Yataghan Sword Dated to 1271 (1854) - 9606

This big and heavy Yataghan sword is clearly dated on the pommel side of the grip to 1271 (1854 in the Gregorian Calendar). The long blade is 26 inches long with a wide belly (2 inches) and pronounced T spine. It is lightly decorated with silver koftgari inlay and dated to what may look as 1251 (1834), 20 years earlier than on the grip. The steel bolsters and grip strap are forged in one piece with the blade and mounted with horn grips. Original wood scabbard with leather cover stitched with brass spiral stitching. Steel locket and original leather belt attachment. Total length 33 inches. Very good condition. Losses to the silver inlay. Minor forging flaws on the blade. Good real fighting sword at a very low price. |
