Fine Wootz Khanda Sword - 9558

Up for sale is this fine Khanda sword, late 18 C., with a 30 inches blade forged of very fine high contrast wootz (watered, Damascus) steel. The blade is widening to its maximum width of 2 inches just above the tip, which is rounded in a spatula shape. Swords with this form of blade is some time called Patissa. and a shorter one on the edge. The basket shape handle is classical Indian with traces of gold koftgari decoration, ending with a 3 1/2 inches pommel spike. Total length 37 inches. Very good condition. No scabbard. A fine rare sword.
