Fine Wootz Kattar Push Dagger, Rajhastan - 9572

This fine armor piercing Kattar dagger is coming from India, most probably Rajhastan, late 18 to early 19 C. The Wootz (Damascus) blade is finely forged, 8 inches long, nicely fullered with an thickened armor piercing tip. As common in such high quality Kattars, only the fullers areas are etched to reveal the steel pattern whereas the edges are left highly polished. Handle length 7 1/2 inches 3 1/4 inches wide. Total 15 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Minor edge nicks. The simple, clean lines and top quality steel are characteristic to good Rajhastani blades. A Katter made for real work and not for show up only. |
