Rare Throwing Knife Southern Sudan - 9529

This type of Throwing knife is coming from the south east regions of present Sudan. Most probably used by the Ingessana tribes, although found in neighboring tribes. This one is an early 20 C. item, very well made and nicely decorated. The upper S re-curving blade is 12 inches long. The side cross bar is 4 inches long. |The long handle is covered with hide and the base of the blade and the cross bar is bound with braided leather strips bound by heavy thick brass wire. The entire length of the knife is engraved with geometrical style decoration. Total length 28 inches. Very good condition. Minor damage to the braided leather strips. A rare version of the African throwing knife. |
