This very good shield is Persian, Qajar period, mid 19 C. 19 inches diameter, heavy steel finely chiseled with floral design and inscription in Arabic letters. A star and a chiseled human face in the center. The shield is decorated with silver and gold koftgari inlay. The shield is set with four bosses and mounted with a brass strip around the rim. Original red fabric inner cover. Very good condition. Losses to the koftgari inlay. Hand cushion , handles and mounting rings are missing.
