Very Rare Turkish Bichaq with Curved Blade, 1806 - 9494

This rare dagger is Turkish, dated to 221 (probably standing for 1221, which correspond with 1806 in the Gregorian calendar). It is a very fine mix between the double edged curved Jambiya (or Khanjar) and the Bichaq knife. The fine blade is 9 inches long, constructed from a twisted steel core forge welded between high carbon steel edges. Similar construction is known from Yataghan swords from the period. The blade is dated 221 (see above). Silver on pewter base handle with classical eared pommel. White metal scabbard. Total length 14 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Very rare and interesting item. |
