This very good Kattar dagger is Indian, early 19 C. or about, with a heavy blade 9 1/2 inches long, 2 1/2 inches wide, with thickened tip for armor piercing. The blade is deeply fullered and forged from Indian Wootz steel (crystalline). The side bars and cross bars are decorated with gold koftgari inlay. Original wood scabbard covered with leather and mounted with a silver tip. Total length 19 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Losses to the gold work on the handle. Minor losses and repairs to the leather cover of the scabbard. The silver tip is recent.
