Very Good Ethiopian Gurade Sword / Saber with British Blade - 9424

The GURADE is the Ethiopian saber. They usually have European imported blades, mounted with typical Ethiopian hilt. This specific one has a 34inches long thick blade probably made in the United Kingdom for the Ethiopian military forces. The blade is marked and etched Amharic letters and with the lion of Judea, the emblem of the emperor Haile Selassie, and inscription in English on the spine (Too worn to decipher) The horn handle, may be a Giraffe horn, is mounted with silver collar and pommel set with turquoise stones. This is probably a later modification done on the handle. Total length 39 inches. Very good condition. No scabbard. Fine and impressive sword.
