Fine Wootz Kattar / Katar Dagger - 9377


This is a very fine Armor piercing Kattar push dagger, late 18 to early 19 C., forged from very fine wootz (Damascus) steel with clear high contrast pattern. . The blade is 9 ½ inches long, with a slightly thickened tip and a fine image of a crowned and winged God (or King??) chiseled on the blade base. The God image is decorated with fine gols inlay (true inlay) technique. The side bars and the cross bars are decorated with gold koftgari work ( now partially erased|). Total length 19 inches. Very good condition with few minor pitted spots on the blade and losses to the gold work. No scabbard.
