This axe is also known as Tabarzine, or saddle axe. The heavy blade is 3 inches wide, 5 inches tall, forged from very good steel and decorated with gold koftgari work. The handle is wood, 22 inches long mounted with long silver mounts with black enameled decoration and leather covered grip. Good condition. Heavy age patina and moderate pitted areas with losses to the koftgari decoration. Very early, probably 18 C. blade with a later 19 C. handle.
