This very good sword is a Persian Shamshir, early to mid 19 C. Wootz forged blade 31 1/2 inches, single edged, finely fullered and chiseled with Arabic letters and the classical Persian lion figure. Steel cross guard, grip strap and pommel button. Horn grips. Leather covered original scabbard. With spiral seam stitching and two bands for carrying belt. The cross guard as well as the ring bands are decorated with a gold koftgari work. Total length 36 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Grips restored. Losses to the leather cover. Damaged areas on the seam stitching.
