Very Good Wootz Karud Dagger from Afghanistan - 9331

This Karud dagger is the straight back member of the family of the Pesh-Kabz, Choora and Khyber Knife. The whole family of such daggers is common to India, Persia and several Central Asian countries. This one is coming from Afghanistan, early to mid 19 C. The blade is forged from fine wootz (Damascus) steel with good contrast pattern. , 11 inches long, heavy, with a pronounced T spine tapering to an acute tip. The grips are ribbed horn and the grip strap and bolsters are steel. The scabbard is wood covered with red fabric and mounted with steel chape and tooled leather locket. Total length 17 1/2 inches. Very good condition. |
