This very fine and beautiful kard is of Turkish origin, Dated to 1150 (1737 in the Gregorian Calendar). Very fine single edge blade, 9 inches long, forged from very fine Wootz (Damascus steel) of clear high contrast pattern. The blade is decorated with gold koftgari work with Arab inscription and date. Silver bolsters and walrus ivory handle. The scabbard is covered with blue velvet and mounted with finely chased silver locket and chape. Total length 16 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Beautiful and elegant item.
