A superb and very fine and complete example of the Kastane sword, the national sword of Sri-Lanka. A very good steel blade, 19 inches long with a 4 inches silver covered ricasso. The silver and gold mounted handle is of great decorative values – A piece of art by itself. The monster styled pommel and D guard tip as well as the monster styled down curving quillons, are all delicately made in very good heavy silver set with gold panels and ruby eyes. Gilded silver scabbard beautifully chased. Total length 26 inches. All in excellent near mint original condition. An unusually decorative piece of high quality.
