This very fine and beautiful kard is of Turkish origin, early to mid 19 C. very fine single edge blade, 8 inches long, forged from very fine Wootz (Damascus steel) of clear high contrast pattern. The blade is decorated with gold koftgari work and several gold inserts. Gilded silver bolsters and walrus ivory handle. The scabbard is covered with leather with spiral stitching and mounted with gilded silver locket and chape, both proof marked. Total length 14 inches. Very good condition. Minor repair to the scabbard tip. Beautiful and elegant item.
