Fine Qajar Persian Jambiya Dagger with Ivory Hilt - 9303

A fine example of late18th, early 19th C. Persian Jambiya dagger from the Qajar period. The 9 1/2 inches curved blade with a pronounced central rib and reinforced edges is beautifully forged from fine Persian wootz (Damascus) steel. The hilt is a massive solid piece of elephant ivory in the classical ‘I’ shape with a pommel ball knob. Original wood scabbard covered with beautifully tooled black leather and with a ball shape bone tip. Total length 15 inches. Very good condition. Very minor losses to the leather. A small repair to the scabbard tip. A very elegant dagger.
