This shield is coming from Rajhastan, India 18 C or a bit later. Made from highly translucent, almost transparent hide of a rhino, 21 inches diameter, very delicately painted with red, green and gold flowers in the center medallion and around the rim both outside and inside the shield. Four big gilded brass bosses set with green stones. Red fabric hand cushion. Very good condition. Some losses to the painting on the outside rim. Torn arm bands. Few later holes drilled around the shield perimeter, most probably for hanging purposes. Very nice and scarce item.
