This very rare form of Klewang is from the Molukas islands in Indonesia. It is characterized by the short heavy blade widening to its maximum width near the tip and the down curving handle. This one has a 19 1/2 inches blade, widening to 2 1/2 inches. Clipped tip. Wood handle bound with rattan fibers and a small horn cross guard. Total length 27 inches. Good condition. Patinated blade with some pitted areas. Edge nicks. Minor losses to the rattan binding on the handle. A very rare sword.
