A very fine example of late18th Early 19th C. Persian Jambiya dagger from the Qajar period. The 9 inches curved blade with a central rib is beautifully forged from fine Persian wootz (Damascus) steel with very high contrast. The hilt is a solid piece of walrus Ivory. Classical ‘I’ shape and carved on the front side in high relief and on the back side with a low relief single human image. Silver pommel cap. Original wood scabbard covered with dark brown leather and with a pierced silver chape. Very good condition. The scabbard tip is recent. A very elegant dagger.
