This fine Choora knife is a typical example from the second half of the 19th century and it is coming from the Khayber pass area between Pakistan and Afghanistan. It was carried by the Mahsud people residing in this area. The blade is 7 1/2 inches long very well forged and inlaid with a brass "star" on each face. Pronounced "T” back spine and reinforced edge. The grips are made of four sectors of ivory, riveted to the tang with four rivets. The bolster and the hilt strap are finely engraved and painted white metal. The scabbard is wood, covered with tooled leather. Total length in scabbard 11 1/2 inches. Very good condition.
