Fine Choora Dagger from the Khayber Pass - 9085

This fine Choora knife is a typical example from the second half of the 19th century and it is coming from the Khayber pass area between Pakistan and Afghanistan. It was carried by the Mahsud people residing in this area. The blade is 8 inches long very well forged and inlaid with a brass "star" on each face. U "T” back spine and reinforced edge. The grips are made of four sectors of ivory, riveted to the tang with four rivets. The bolster and the hilt strap are finely chased white metal. The scabbard is wood, covered with finely shased brass. Total length in scabbard 12 inches. Very good condition. Scabbard tip is damaged. This is a sturdy heavy duty example of a weapon meant for use and very well built. All parts are old and original. A beautiful addition to your collection of Oriental weapons at a very reasonable price. |
