Execution Keris Sword, Sumatra - 9072

An Execution Keris short sword from Sumatra. This rare type of Keris was used to execute criminals. The long narrow blade was inserted above the collarbone of the sitting executed person and pushed down directly into the heart, causing instant death. The blade of this specific Keris is 18 inches long, narrow but sturdy. The hilt is polished black wood. Engraved metal mendak (the small metal ring/fitting below the hilt), probably made of pewter or a similar one. Wood scabbard. Total length 22 1/2 inches. Sword and handle in very good condition. Scabbard damaged but easily restorable. Very low price. |
