Up for sale is this fine Yataghan sword, dated to 1213 (1798 in the Gregorian calendar). This style of yataghan with very big eared pommel is commonly referred to as Balkan. Blade 24 inches, down curving with a narrow fuller just below the spine. The blade is decorated with inlaid gold and silver (true inlay) with Arabic inscriptions and date. Wide ears grip most probably made from rhino horn with food deep black brown patina, and chased silver grip strap and bolsters. Total length 29 1/2 inches. Very good condition. No scabbard
