Qajar Persian Jambiya Dagger Walrus Hilt India - 5898

This Jambiya dagger is a nice example of the Persian Qajar period weaponry of the late 19 C. The blade is curved, double edged, 12 inches long. It is elaborately etched on its entire length and on both faces, describing birds and fishes between a detailed floral design. With a human face at the heel and a snake at the tip. The grip is carved from a solid piece of Walrus ivory with a human figure on both sides and Arabic inscription on the pommel and the cross guard. The wood scabbard is covered with dark red fabric and with a white metal tip. Very good condition. The upper right corner of the blade heel is pitted, but all active rust is removed. The metal tip of the scabbard is new. Very attractive piece of work at a very attractive price
