Fine and Long Parang Nabur Sword from Kalimantan (Borneo) - 9050


Up for sale is this Very long example of the Parang Nabur sword from Kalimantan (Borneo). This saber shaped sword with the D guard is strongly influenced from the naval cutlasses carried by the Dutch sailors, and shows a perfect blend of European with Islamic styles. Up-curving Long blade 29 inches long with an 11 inches back edge (Compared to the common 20-22 inches blade of similar swords), beautifully engraved and pierced in its upper half. The grip is horn and the cross guard and D guard are brass. Wood scabbard painted black. Total length 35 inches. Very good condition. A very good and unusual example, late 19 to early 20C.
