A very nice RENTONG knife / dagger from the Malay Archipelago. The version offered here is mostly used by the Achenese people from North West Sumatra (see Stone Glossary, fig. 106 number 4 page 85). The blade is 11 inches long down curving and single edged. The hilt is horn and the scabbard is wood engraved with very delicate design. Total length 17 inches. Very good condition. Minor pitted spots on the blade. Minor cracks and losses to the scabbard. Altogether a very nice piece from the second half of the 19th C attractive and decorative item.
