Fine Execution Keris Sword with Carved Horn Hilt, Sumatra - 9031

An Execution Keris dagger / sword from Sumatra. This rare type of Keris was used to execute criminals. The long narrow blade was inserted above the collarbone of the sitting executed person and pushed down directly into the heart, causing instant death. The blade of this specific Keris is 20 1/2 inches long, narrow but sturdy with two long narrow fullers on its entire length. The blade is forged from fine pamor steel. The hilt is finely carved from black horn with a styled bird on the pommel top. Engraved silver mendak (the small metal ring/fitting below the hilt). Total length 25 inches. Very good condition. No scabbard. A good fine piece at a very reasonable price. |
