This very fine Kard knife is of Turkish origin, probably early to mid 19 C. It incorporate a very fine blade 8 inches long forged together with the bolsters from very fine Persia Wootz steel of high contrast pattern.. The handle is whole steel with traces of gold koftgari work. This kard comes with its original scabbard, covered with the original blue velvet and mounted with silver locket and chape. The chape is signed with what looks to be a Tughra proof mark for the silver. Total length 13 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Most of the gold koftgari work on the handle is lost. A fine original item with a superb blade.
