Short Sword from Assam - 8968

This type of weapon is very unusual. It is coming from the Assam area in North-East India and it is a common side area to various tribes of the Naga people residing in this area. A very similar item is drawn in: P. S. Rawson, The Indian Sword fig 46, related to the Kuki tribes. The blade is down curving, 12 inches long and the handle is cast brass. Total length 16 inches. Red hair tuft on the pommel. Very good condition. Some grinding signs on the false edge.
