Fine Turkish Bichaq with Pattern Welded Blade Dated to 1857 - 8952


This short knife in the shape of a small Yataghan is of Turkish origin, dated to 1274 ( 1857 in the gregorian calendar. It is also known as Bichaq. its single edge blade is 8 inches long, finely forged from pattern welded steel in the pattern known as Turkish Ribbon, made from several layers of twisted steel bars. The grips are walrus ivory and the grip strap and bolsters are silver on tin base. Finely chased silver cabbard. Total length 13 inches. Very good condition. Minor losses to the grip strap on the top side of the handle.
