Fine Big Dagger of the Manding, West Sahara, Africa - 8924


This fine dagger is probably late 19 to early 20C., from the Manding people of the west Sahara. The double edge blade is 15 inches long, finely forged and decorated with engraved geometrical pattern. The handle is composed of layers of ivory and horn, with a big ivory pommel and silver collar. Leather scabbard with typical Manding braided leather strips. Total length 15 inches. Good condition. Good patina on the Ivory parts. Losses to the leather cover of the scabbard in few places. Scabbard tip damaged.
