Very Good Khanda / Patisa Sword with Damascus Blade - 8897


Up for sale is this very good Khanda sword, 18 C. or earlier, with a 32 inches blade (May be wootz but needs a good polish and etch to bring it out). The blade is widening to its maximum width of 2 ½ inches just above the tip, which is rounded in a spatula shape. Swords with this form of blade is some time called Patisa. The blade is reinforced with long decorative steel strips on both the spine and the upper part of the edge side. The blade is riveted to the double plates handle extension. The basket shape handle is classical Indian and the pommel is ending with a 2 1/2 inches spike. Total length 39 inches. Good condition to age. Some pitting on the blade. No scabbard.
