Very Fine Indian Khanjar with Jade Handle - 8896

This dagger, early to mid 19 C. is a very fine example of the Moghul art from India represented in the design and the making of top quality arms and armor. Classical double curvature blade forged from fine crucible steel (wootz, Damascus, watered steel) of high contrast pattern, 9 1/2 inches long. The handle is finely carved from a single piece of light green jade with floral design and a red stone set (later) at the pommel top center. Wood scabbard with fabric cover. Total length 15 inches. Very good condition. |
