This Yataghan sword is dated on the blade to 1292 (1875 in the Gregorian calendar). The blade is finely forged, well stamped and richly decorated with Arabic inscriptions and geometrical patterns in silver koftgari work. Blade length 25 inches. The massive handle is made of walrus grips and silver plated copper bolsters and grip strap, both in fine filigree work and set with colored buttons. Total length 30 inches. Very good condition. Silver plating is worn and lightly damaged. The grips were cracked (as mostly happens with such grips) and repaired. The handle is partially restored. No scabbard.
