Fine Turkish Yataghan Sword with Damascus Blade. - 8881

A fine and interesting example of the “YATAGAN”, the famous Ottoman sword. This specific example is early to mid 19 C., probably of Turkish origin. It has a 25 inches blade forged from fine pattern welded (Damascus) steel in the pattern known as Turkish Ribbon achieved by forge welding of several twisted steel rods to one ingot. This pattern was common to Ottoman blades as from the 17C. Horn grips. Silver bolsters and grip strap. Total length 30 inches very good condition. Minor scratches on the blade. The silver grip strap is restored. No scabbard. |
