A very fine, large dahl steel shield, Persian, mid to late 19 C. Qajar style. 18 ½ inches diameter, 4 inches high, Finely chiseled with floral decoration and Arabic inscription and inlaid with fine silver inlay (true inlay) and Koftgari gold work. Remains of the inner fabric cover. Very good condition with excellent age patina. Inner fabric worn. Original handles and cushion are missing and replaced by a later braided thread. Very fine work.
