Rare Sword from Toraja, Sulawesi, Indonesia - 8847


We offer for sale this rare sword coming from Toraja (The central mountainous region of Sulawesi). It is locally called: Dua Lalan meaning dual purpose, to describe its use, both for war time and for ceremonial slaughtering of Buffalo. It has a 20 inches blade, well forged, a black wood handle with fine carving and wood scabbard bound with rattan. Total length 28 inches. Very good condition, well patinated blade.
