Very Good and Heavy Parang Nabur Sword from Kalimantan (Borneo) - 8846

Up for sale is this fine example of the Parang Nabur sword from Kalimantan (Borneo). This saber shaped sword with the D guard is strongly influenced from the naval cutlasses carried by the Dutch sailors, and shows a perfect blend of European with Islamic styles. Up-curving heavy blade 26 inches long and massive, widening to 2 inches wide with a 10 inches back edge. The grip is checkered wood painted dark red with a heavy brass collar. The cross guard and D guard are steel. Wood scabbard also painted red with brass bands and heavy brass chape. Total length 33 inches. Very good condition. Minor repairs on the scabbard.
