Very Good Silver Mounted Jambiya Dagger from the Hijaz - 8836

This type of long and slender Jambiya dagger is common in the Western regions of Arabia, Hijaz and Asir. Sometimes it is refered to by collectors as Wahabite style. The blade is 14 1/2 inches long, plain and somewhat crudely made as common with these daggers. The handle is made of two rhino horn grips richly decorated with filigree silver mounts. The scabbard is brass, with big silver locket and chape, also richly decorated with filigree work and set with red colored stone (glass ??). Total length20 inches. This dagger comes with its original tooled leather belt. Very good condition. |
